Apple is going to start production of the iPhone 8 much sooner than expected, according to a new report.

Apple normally launches its new iPhone each year in mid-September. However, it now looks like the Cupertino firm is set to break tradition and launch the iPhone 8 much earlier than expected.

According to research firm BlueFin Research Partners, there is “some indication” Apple will start producing the iPhone 8 in June.

This could mean that Apple will release the handset before September or it could also be because the iPhone 8, which is expected to include a host of new features and a complete new design, will take even longer to produce than previous models.

“The most intriguing data points that we have uncovered suggests that AAPL is ramping the next generation iPhones earlier than historical norms,” the BlueFin noted.

“Additionally, AAPL has adjusted iPhone 7, 7 Plus, and SE production downward in preparation for the next generation launch.”

“In the past, builds of upcoming releases began in earnest early in the September quarter, so this is a departure from AAPL’s normal build cadence.”

BlueFin also claims that Apple will increase production of the iPhone 8 by some 300 percent, producing a whopping 9 million handsets in the June quarter, in order to cope with what is expected to huge demand for Apple’s 10th anniversary handset.

“In the past, builds of upcoming releases began in earnest early in the September quarter, so this is a departure from AAPL’s normal build cadence.”

Meanwhile, another report claims the iPhone 8 will likely cost upwards of $1000 or about 35,000 baht, making it the most expensive iPhone to date.

The iPhone 8 is rumoured to include a groundbreaking edge to edge display and improved 3D sensor technology that is likely to result in a hefty price tag.

While $1000 for a smartphone might sound outragous, the jet black 256GB version of the iPhone 7 Plus already retails for around $960.

At the same time it launches the iPhone 8, other rumours have suggested Apple will launch a 4.7 inch ‘iPhone 7s’ and a 5.5 inch ‘iPhone 7 Plus’.
