The next Thailand Mobile Expo is being held at the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre in Bangkok from May 19-22.
The event, which was only last held in February, takes place three or four times per year and on average attracts around 700,000 visitors across the four days.
If you are in the market for a new smartphone then the Thailand Mobile Expo is well worth visiting.
Not only is there a fantastic selection of new smartphones on sale, but many manufacturers will offer pretty good discounts or event only reductions on even the latest handsets.
In the past, some manufacturers have used the event to launch new devices in Thailand. In 2015, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note Edge at the event.
One of the highlights of this event will be the iPhone SE which is expected to be heavily promoted by Thailand’s big 3 mobile operators: AIS, TrueMove and Dtac, so expect some slight discounts on the sales price and other special offers, especially if you sign up to a pay monthly agreement.
The excellent mid range Galaxy A5 and A7 will also be on sale, while Samsung is expected to use the event to officially launch the latest version of its new mid level J5 and J7 smartphones, with the latter offering a 5.5 inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 128GB, a 13MP primary camera and which is expected to be on sale in the region of 11,000 baht.
Other devices of note which will be on sale at the event include Microsoft’s new range of Lumia handsets, including the Lumia 650, as well as the Surface Pro 4 tablet which is on sale for 33,000 Baht.
Vivo “faster than faster” V3 Max will also be on sale for 12,990 Baht. Vivo touts the V3 Max as a premium device at an affordable price.
The V3 Max includes includes a 5.5 inch full HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 Octacore processor with a hefty 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 128GB via MicroSD.
Vivo is giving away a whole host of extras such as a free SD card, selfie stick, case, smartphone holder and screen protector for anyone who buys the V3 Max at the Mobile Expo.
Other brands which will be at the Mobile Expo include Lenovo, Huawei, Alcatel, Sony, Oppo, and Asus, which will be showcasing the latest additions to its Zenfone range, including the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser.
As well as smartphones, many of the leading smartwatches will also be on sale at the Thailand Mobile Expo. There is also a gaming area, presentations from manufacturers, and a hardware zone which sells just about everything you could ever need in terms of mobile hardware and accessories.
Arrive early on Thursday or Friday morning is recommended. There is ample parking for anyone travelling by car.
Oh, and expect pretties, lots of pretties.
