Xiaomi has beaten Samsung and Apple to launch the world’s first edgeless screen smartphone.
The new device is the most extravagant concept smartphone and has been designed by the Chinese tech giant in conjunction with French designer Philippe Starck.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix sports a stunning 6.4 inch edgeless display that covers almost all of the body of the phone.
As the device now has a huge front display the Chinese manufacturer needed to make some dramatic changes to the design of Mi Mix and this is what makes it so different to other devices.
For example, the 5MP selfie camera is now located at the bottom of the front panel and is almost 50 percent smaller than the average smartphone camera.
The rear 16MP camera has improved autofocus to ensure that all your images remain crystal clear.
Instead of having a regular earpiece to listen to calls, the Mi Mix uses new piezoelectric acoustic technology, which is capable of transmitting sound without needing to use a receiver.
Internally the device is pretty impressive too. It has a Snapdragon 821 processor Qualcomm, up to 6GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage – matching the top of the range versions of the iPhone 7, as well as a 4400mAh battery.
The device is also expected to run Android Nougat 7.1 and will be available in China from 4 November with no news yet about when it will be launched elsewhere.
