This new feature on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will change the way we unlock smartphones


A video has been leaked online which claims to show the new iris scanner on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Samsung’s new phablet is due to be released at the beginning of August, just a couple of weeks before the Apple unveils the new iPhone 7.

As well as having a 5.7 inch display and a powerful processor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is expected to be the first mass produced smartphone to include an iris scanner.

The video, which was shared on Chinese social network Weibo last week, shows a man unlocking the Note 7 in less than a second using only his eye.

Recent weeks has seen a number of images leaked online which claim to be of the Galaxy Note 7.

While Samsung is yet to confirm exact specifications, rumours are that the Note 7 will be available in a choice of Black, Silver and Blue and will include Samsung’s Exynos 8893 processor with 4GB, making it the most powerful smartphone to date.

It is also expected to run Android Nougat, the latest version of Android’s operating system alongside Samsung’s TouchWiz interface.

Samsung is planning to release the Note 7 on August 2nd and has already sent out invitations to to an exclusive ‘unpacked event’ where the Korean tech giant is expected to officially unveil the device for the first time.

There have also been rumours that the Galaxy Note 7 will be available to buy in store on August 2nd in Korea, the USA and UK as the device will go on sale just hours after it is officially unveiled.

    I doubt it will launch with Nougat. It will be updated at some point, true, but I would think the Nexus line would get it first.
