Trippino Hokkaido Makes Hokkaido Island Accessible to Tourists from Thailand

Trippino Hokkaido, launched on February 25th, is aimed directly at Thailand tourists visiting Japan’s Hokkaido Island. The app connects tourists with access to all of the entertainment hotspots on the island. Tourists can find sightseeing spots, shopping centers, the best clubs and restaurants that have the best food.

Available on both iOS and Android, Trippino Hokkaido caters to the growing number of Thai tourists in the region. In 2012, 37,000 tourists from Thailand visited the island. The numbers almost tripled in 2013 with 100,000 tourists visiting Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido.

Focused only on Thailand tourists, the app’s creator states that the increase in Thai visitors to the island was the main purpose for the app’s creation. However, there are four countries that rank ahead of Thailand in visitors to the island: China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea.

The team behind the app hopes to be downloaded by 60% – 70% of Thailand tourists visiting the island.

Users that download the app will be able to connect to Facebook to like businesses, attractions and more. The app also shows nearby landmarks and popular locations to help tourists find all of the best in entertainment and sightseeing. A single tap on a bar icon, for example, will show the bar’s hours of operation, specialty, address and phone number.

Users can select categories to see only what they want, such as: food, shopping, nightlife, hotels and sightseeing locations. Proximity and popularity sorting is also available.

The app also lets users take selfies and add cute stickers to from the region. If a person is in Sapporo Station, they’ll be able to take a picture, add stickers and apply filters. The company is trying to find partnerships with local establishments to provide app users with discounts if they post a selfie with the establishment’s personalized sticker.
