Vivo Xplay 5: The world’s first 6GB RAM smartphone

Vivo, the Chinese smartphone maker perhaps best known for the Vivo X5 Max, which claims to be the world’s slimmest smartphone has confirmed it is about to launch another world first.

Earlier this week at MWC 2016, the company confirmed its plans to launch the Vivo XPlay 5, which will be the first smartphone to offer 6GB RAM.

Recent weeks has seen Vivo teasingly offer up a small bits of info related to specs and design. Whilst a full specs list is still forthcoming, Vivo has confirmed the Xplay 5 will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor in addition to the 6GB of RAM.

It is also expected the Vivo XPlay 5 will have a 16 megapixel rear facing camera and an 8 megapixel front shooter, as well as a QHD 2560 x 1440 display powered by a whopping 4,300mAh battery.

The Vivo X Play 5 is expected to be officially unveiled on March 1st, however, it is still unclear if the phone will be on sale in Thailand, or indeed anywhere else, with some rumours suggesting it may only be available in its native China

Whilst Vivo is well recognised in China and indeed in Thailand it perhaps remains something of an unknown in places like the United States and Europe. However, if made available outside of China, the X Play 5, on paper at least, could well be the handset that helps the brand finally break into wider international markets.

ThaiTech will bring you all the confirmed specs and release dates after its official launch on March 1st.
