Want to free up more storage space on your iPhone?

A bizarre trick could be the secret behind freeing up more storage space on your iPhone.

The downside is that it only works if you are running “really low” on space. In fact this may not be such a drawback as it seems as most of us are only aware that we are running short on storage space when we can’t do something such as take a photo or download a song.

How many times have you run out of storage space on your phone and sat there not knowing what to delete?

Fortunately a new trick that is being widely shared on social media lets you free up some space on your phone without actually having to delete anything.

It sounds strange doesn’t it, but the alleged method involves just trying to rent a film from the iTunes store that is larger than your available memory space.

Your phone will immediately clear your temporary files and this, in theory at least, will leave you with more space.

Here is a quick guide to how it actual works but remember you probably need less than 1GB of storage space left.

  1. Check your storage space by going to Settings > General > Usage

  2. Now go to the iTunes store and select the “films” tab

  3. Choose a film that uses more memory than you have available, and click “rent”

  4. A message will then be displayed that will read “Cannot download. There is not enough storage available”

  5. Check your storage space again – , you should have far more storage space than you had before

It is well worth giving this a try and so long as your film is larger than your available space it is pretty risk free.

Let us know if this worked for you – we had mixed results when we tried in the office earlier today.
