Western Digital unveils world’s largest MicroSD card, with a staggering 400GB capacity

Western Digital has unveiled a 400GB MicroSD card, which is being touted as offering the largest capacity on the market.

The 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-1 card was unveiled at the IFA 2017 consumer electronics and offers twice the capacity of the record breaking 200GB card the firm launched two years ago.

“We continue to push technology boundaries and transform the way consumers use their mobile devices,” Sven Rathjen, vice president, product marketing, Western Digital said in a statement.

“By focusing on achieving new technology milestones, we enable consumers to keep up with their mobile-centric lifestyles with storage solutions they trust.”

Aimed at Android smartphone and tablet users, the new card can hold up to 40 hours of full HD video and offers transfer speeds of up to 100 MB per second, that lets users move more than 1,200 photos per minute.

Priced at $250, the firm has so far only confirmed availability in the U.S. and hasn’t yet revealed if it will be available elsewhere, including Thailand.
