WhatsApp is testing a new feature that makes it easier for users to talk businesses using the instant messaging app.
The new feature adds verified business accounts, which are identified by a green badge next to their name to confirm that they belong to a business.
“WhatsApp will also let you know when you start talking to a business via yellow messages inside a chat. There is no way to delete these messages from the chat,” WhatsApp said on its blog.
“If you already have a business’s phone number saved, the name you will see is the name you have saved in your address book.”
However, if users find that businesses are being a nuisance and repetitively contacting them, the contact will have the option of blocking them.
At present, WhatsApp business verification is limited to a small amount of businesses that have agreed to take part in a pilot programme.
Verified business accounts is the latest in a number of new features added to WhatsApp.
Earlier this month, the world’s most popular messaging app added a feature which lets you post colourful text based status updates. The same feature was rolled out to Facebook in December 2016.
WhatsApp is also said to be testing a new feature that will allow users to send money to one another.
Similar to PayPal, the new WhatsApp Payment feature will mean that you can repay your friends for meals, taxi fares or even a few drinks at the bar.
