French smartphone brand Wiko is targeting 5 per cent market share in Thailand, with one million devices expected to be sold this year.
Wiko Mobile (Thailand) Co Ltd’s chief executive officer Anat Watchinda said that the market overview for smartphones in 2017 is unchanged compared from the previous year.
Total sales are expected to reach 17 million devices amid fierce competition. The most interesting segment is for smartphones priced below Bt8,000, which represent a large proportion in the market.
He said smartphone users in this price range tend to select models that truly meet their daily usage needs. They often compare prices and features before making a purchase.
“This can be an advantage for Wiko to enter this market segment because we offer an ideal combination of cutting-edge design, product quality, value-for-money pricing and good-quality customer support our customers can always rely on,” he said.
