Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi Bunny smartwatch for kids.
The device is described as “wearable tech with useful features in a cute package”.
It probably isn’t groundbreaking but perhaps this is not what you would expect from a smartwatch aimed at kids that is available on the Xiaomi global website for $59 (a little over THB2000).
One of the most appealing functions of the smartwatch is the fact that it is fitted with GPS so parents can keep track of their children’s location with the added feature of being able to set boundaries and alerts if the child wanders too far.
Other features include the ability for the child to make and receive calls as well as having an SOS button. Once pressed the device will record for seven seconds and send an alert and location to their parent’s smartphone.
The phone also supports WiFi and Bluetooth and a 300 mAh battery that should be capable of lasting for two days with typical use.
In terms of compatibility it works on any Android 4.2 or higher smartphone and Apple devices running iOS 8 and above. It is also capable of linking to any other manufacturer’s device making it more practical.
Xiaomi are expected to launch two other smartwatches known as the Mi Max and Mi Band 2 at an event on 10 May.
